April has been a busy month at Sofar. The Marine Meteorological Service of Brazil, part of the Brazilian Navy, is responsible for the safety of navigation and the safeguard of human life at sea. Learn how the team was able to support its mission by mobilizing and deploying a Spotter buoy within hours of receiving a storm warning affecting Copacabana Beach.

As our Spotter network continues to grow, observational data from high energy systems help us understand more about these storms. Dr. Isabel Houghton, an Ocean Scientist at Sofar, takes a look at Tropical Cyclone Niran as it passes over one of our Spotters.

If you've logged into weather.sofarocean.com recently, you may have noticed a string of Spotters stretching from the Caribbean to Gibraltar.
