While demand in the middle of the month was negatively impacted by extreme weather conditions across most of the country, with a week remaining in January there is upside to the outlook. On the flipside, there could be pause among some consumers, as they wait to see how the apparent revamping of federal policies and institutions by the new administration plays out. Regardless, sales are tracking to record their fourth straight increase in January.
