Happy Thursday, food fans! It's felt like summer for a while now, between the heat and the restaurants debuting new summer menus to entice us diners to come out of our air-conditioned homes and support our local businesses. Recently, Ian McNulty compiled a list of ways to support the restaurants we love as we continue into the slower summer months.

There have been multiple restaurants announced that are closing in recent months, while others continue to open. However, there are still some spots available around town, and many more are celebrating anniversaries and awards. 

1. Let's celebrate

First off, the Dooky Chase community is celebrating its latest James Beard award. Then we have Radosta's Po-Boys celebrating 50 years in business.

And now we have a timeline for when we will know which restaurants will potentially be featured in the Michelin Guide. Another celebration to look forward to.

2. Saying goodbye and hello

On St. Claude Avenue, fans of Poke-chan are starting to come in for their last bowl of poke, as Poet Wolfe reports. But while the customers say goodbye, the owners invite them to come back and say hello to the new Vietnamese restaurant that will take its place.

3. Something brand new

In a city that feels timeless, we rarely get to try something that feels super brand new. Maddie Scott delves into the world of Matcha Magic, a new cafe opening on Tulane Avenue with a primary focus on matcha sourced from a micro farm in Shizuoka, Japan.
