We just wanted our silly AI to write good ads ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

How We Upgraded Adweek's Ad-Pitching Super Bowl Bot With a Smarter, More Eerily Human AI

The most advanced content-creating AI in the world is kept under a pretty secure lock and key these days. We tried to get access to it so we could use it to write dumb ads, but no luck.

So we hacked it.

Well not literally, as it was more in the "life hack" vein. But regardless, we sneakily got access to GPT-3, today's most cutting-edge AI tool for writing content, and we promptly plugged it into our Super Bowl Bot to see what kind of ads it would pitch for this year's Big Game.

The good news: It worked, and we're now cranking out fascinating, AI-written ad ideas every day through this year's Super Bowl.

The bad news: The results are almost...too human? Not that they're lame; they just don't have that "robot in a trench coat trying to order a ham sandwich" vibe that we saw with last year's creations via GPT-2.

That said, they're still delightfully odd, just like the best ads written by humans.

So do yourself a favor and read my colleague Patrick Kulp's article about how he upgraded Super Bowl Bot for 2021 and how the results compare to last year.

And don't forget to follow Super Bowl Bot on Twitter so you can keep tabs on its creations—and even request a custom pitch of your own.

What are your thoughts on the future of AI copywriting and concepting? I'd love to hear at the email below or at @Griner on Twitter.

Wishing a warm weekend to our robot overlords,
