There is palpable anger in the land about corruption. The anger is largely focused on what the ANC is doing and failing to do about the scourge. If we separate party and state, it is useful to look at the scoreboard of what the state has achieved so far in fighting corruption.

For the vast majority of our youth, education has been their only hope, says Valued Citizens Initiative’s Founder and CEO Carole Podetti-Ngono.
So much has changed in such a short space of time but for many children under Valued Citizens Initiative’s programmes, education equated a solution to poverty.
“Our children are clear that should every learner pass this year, it will prove that government doesn’t care about quality education,” Podetti-Ngono said this was the sentiment young Valued Citizens shared with the organisation.

This occasion marks the anniversary of the day in 1956 when 20,000 women marched to the Union Buildings – a great sea of womankind speaking many languages, from different places and of all races. Women’s Day recognizes the 9th of August 1956, when approximately 20,000 marched to protest legislation which would have been used to tighten control of black women in urban areas. They left petitions containing more than 100,000 signatures at the Prime Minister’s doorstep, and stood in silence for 30 minutes before singing “Wathint’Abafazi Wathint’imbokodo!” (Now you have touched the women, you have struck a rock.)
