HERITAGE DAY: What makes us….us?
There is so much ‘stuff’ going on at the moment in this the country of our birth, which we call home, where we have our roots, where we have our heritage – to the point where we question the very essence and meaning of ‘heritage day’; is it just another public holiday?; a somewhat superficial ‘braai day’?; a time to lament what could have been?; or a real time to celebrate?
I took time out to reflect…………..
What makes us…..us? In the context of our heritage, our complex history, our ’94 transition, our heritage ……I thought about it……. and jotted the following:

This past Friday, 16 September, GAHC took part in the foundation’s annual dignity drive at Realogile High School in Alexandra (JHB), providing around 240 girls with Pick ‘n Pay care packages containing sanitary, hygiene and afri’pure hair care essentials.

New film series explores why fathers matter in SA
Heartlines hopes to see 5 million men – and society at large – getting involved in the biggest campaign of its kind in Africa, aimed at encouraging fathers and men to be part of a movement of being positively involved in the lives of children.
South African NGO Heartlines, in collaboration with the SABC, is unveiling a new film series called Heartlines Fathers Matter that uses the power of story to support the positive and active role of fathers and men in the lives of children.

The GBETSROCKS Cricket Team Play It Forward at the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital
Based in Paarl at Boland Park, The GbetsRocks Professional Cricket Team with JP Duminy, a former Protea player, as their Head Coach visited the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital on Friday, 16 September 2022.
This team forms part of Cricket South Africa’s first division teams and won the CSA T20 League in the 2020/2022 Season! Boasting with a few SA Cricket players, such as Janneman Malan, thrilled and enthusiastically they took the time to interact with little patients and their families – handing out cuddly teddys and toys.
