‘Easter Time’ Reminder

Hi everyone ❤️ we’ve been back in SA for just over two months now, and since being here I compiled a list of the things I missed and took for granted before we moved to the UK.
Here it goes, hope this is the push you needed to come home. 😁
☀️Doing fun things is actually affordable and within reach! (Swimming, braai, going to friends who actually follow through with plans and don’t cancel🤩)
☀️My boys will have experiences here that just aren’t possible anywhere else
☀️Bush holidays…. My word I missed those
☀️Restaurants - the pure abundance and variety here is something I missed so much, and I’d say a good 75% of them have great food… and a VIBE!!
☀️not having to clean the house myself anymore… this is a luxury for the rich in most of the world and we are SO lucky to have it within arm’s reach here.
☀️affordable childcare !!! As much as I adore my boys, spending 24/7 with two toddlers inside was pure torture.
☀️Hanging the washing outside…. Self explanatory 😂
☀️The amount of people who constantly acknowledge my children, the smiles they get in shops! The thumbs up and waves from strangers, It fills me up every time…
☀️Woolworths…. Lamington salted Caramel Swiss rolls guys…. 🤤🤤🤤
☀️Not having to salt any food in restaurants because it is so tasty and full of flavour to begin with!! ...[more]
Waitress saves child who was choking while she was on duty
On 22nd March 2023, at Wimpy Mayville Mall, Pretoria, Olga Fakude, a waitress on duty, saved the life of a child who started choking shortly after eating her breakfast.
Olga, who has worked at Wimpy for the past six years, says that she noticed the child choking on her food at a table she was serving.
Having done a first aid course a few years back, Olga sprang into action. She began doing abdominal thrusts which enabled the child to cough up the lodged food. Within a few seconds, the child started breathing normally again – much to the relief of her parents.

Mrs South Africa finalist aligns herself with two NPO foundations
Terisa Hsu-Lee, a Kyalami resident, mother, and business owner, has been chosen as a semi-finalist for Mrs South Africa 2023.
Her resume includes being a Fourways passion-preneur and the owner of Ever Beauty SA Emporium located in the Pineslopes shopping center.
Hsu-Lee was informed of her selection last month following the National Casting event at Emperors Palace in Johannesburg.
The semi-finalists participated in a two-day conference with motivational talks, workshops, upskilling sessions, socialising, networking and were introduced to the Mrs SA sisterhood

Business speaking up

There has been strong opinion on the ‘unwillingness’ of prominent business leaders to publicly ‘speak up’ and take our government to task regarding our current loadshedding, corruption, cadre deployment, crime, service delivery, unemployment, potholes etc. malaise. Comments abound, like “So many spineless CEO’s out there. Way too comfortable with their inflated packages, share incentives and bonus structures. Quite a pathetic bunch really. Nothing but self-serving individuals who cannot care less about what is happening around them. Life is too good on top.”
I think it naive to expect every prominent businessman to mount his soapbox and mouth off against government...[more]
With eleven gyms in South Africa, Ignite Fitness will be hosting a FREE open week from 17 – 21 March in aid of Human Rights Day. “We want to encourage our members, and their guests, to bring along non-perishable food to gain access to our gyms during this open week. SA’s support for the very poor is well-developed compared to many countries in our middle-income category. Actually that is a massive understatement. The support net has increased from around three million beneficiaries in 1995 to about 18 million now who currently receive state welfare grants, while a further 11 million get the state’s Covid-19 grant, now transformed into a general social relief grant. That is nearly half the population of the country.
SA spends about R200-billion a year on the social grant system, and a further R44-billion on the social relief grant, which is at the moment around R350 a month.
