South Dakota AG told police his car hit a deer. It turned out to be a man.

Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg reported hitting a deer with his car on Saturday night, but authorities now say he struck and killed Joseph Boever, whose body wasn't found until Sunday morning, the Department of Public Safety confirmed.

Ravnsborg's office called it a "tragic accident,” but Boever's family has expressed frustration over the lack of information from officials and say they have doubts about Ravnsborg's account. The department did not say how long it took for Ravnsborg to call authorities after the collision or how he came to the conclusion that he had hit a deer.
