View email online | | | | | May 27, 2021 | | | | | | Good evening There is a sense of optimism back amongst us. Since most of society started to open up again earlier this month, we can see a chink of light at the end of a very long tunnel. That is despite the emergence of the Indian variant of Covid which seems to be spreading across the country rather too fast for most people’s liking. To counter that, vaccination figures are continuing to rise and many young people - the ones thought to be the most vaccine-hesitant - are coming forward in droves for the jab. Even better, the sun is going to shine on a bank holiday weekend, a sure sign that we must be over the worst. So spare a thought for the doctors and nurses running our A&E departments. Now that people are more likely to actually leave their homes, they are also more likely to need treatment for all kinds of ailments. So much so that Blackpool’s casualty department is finding itself overrun again - often with cases which could be dealt with by a GP or even a pharmacist. Make sure you leave them free to treat real emergencies - that could be you next time.
