EVENT INDUSTRY NEWS

NATIONAL: Event and meeting professionals are coming together to sign the COVID-19 Federal Aid Package for Events Industry Change.org petition, citing a "need of an aid package to support us in order to survive and recover the pandemic and economic catastrophe."

BOSTON: The Boston Marathon has rescheduled for September 14, five months after its original date of April 20.

LOS ANGELES: On Sunday, California Governor Gavin Newsom called for the closing of all bars and lounges, and reduced capacity for restaurants, throughout the state due to COVID-19 concerns.

MIAMI/SOUTH FLORIDA: Miami Beach Pride has made the decision to postpone its annual event to a date yet to be set. The organization's smaller, outdoor event set for March 30 will go on as scheduled.

NEW YORK: Mayor Bill de Blasio announced late last night that he will be signing an executive order to limit restaurants, bars, and cafés to allow take-out and delivery orders only starting on Tuesday, March 17 at 9 a.m. In addition, theaters, concert venues, and nightclubs will close completely with a reopening date to be determined.
