| | | | | | Dear readers,
Christmas is coming and the year is nearly over. The DDR Museum looks back on an eventful twelve months: We opened the special exhibitions »My Trabi – 26 Two-Stroke Stories« and »The DDR's Final Year – Start into the Uncertain«, welcomed our six millionth visitor and traditionally offered a colourful programme for young and old during the Long Night of Museums. As part of the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, the DDR Museum, in cooperation with the Berlin Wall Foundation, commemorated (almost) forgotten pieces of the Berlin Wall. Furthermore, our guests from all over the world enjoyed diverse events, the monthly changing object of the month from the collection of the DDR Museum, a new edition of the popular 0 Euro Souvenir Note as well as publications, eg. the exhibition guide of the museum in Italian and (modern) Chinese.
The plans for 2020 are already in full swing and we look forward to keeping you up to date on our exciting projects next year. There are already important news to share: From January 2, 2020, new opening hours will apply. The DDR Museum can then be visited daily between 9 am and 9 pm.
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

| | | | | New temporary exhibition in the foyer »The DDR's Final Year – Start into the Uncertain« | | | | |
| | | |
| | | | | When the Wall fell on November 9, 1989, the last and most important year of the DDR began. For the first time everything was up for grabs: social order, integration into the Eastern bloc and statehood. The small special exhibition therefore focuses on the eventful period between November 9, 1989 and October 3, 1990, the day of German reunification. The political and economic developments on the way to reunification, special events, new freedoms as well as commonalities and challenges in the reunification process of the two German states are discussed.
The special exhibition can be seen in the foyer of the DDR Museum until April 13, 2020. Admission to the special exhibition is free of charge.

From January 2, 2020, new opening hours will apply. The DDR Museum can then be visited daily between 9 am and 9 pm.
| | | | | New card game »Stasi – over and out!« | | | | |
| | | |
| With the support of the DDR Museum and the Federal Commissioner for the Stasi Records, Playing History publishes its new card game »Stasi – over and out!« on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the storming of the Stasi headquarters in Berlin. In this game, the players take the perspective of the Stasi. The goal is to destroy as many documents as possible before the activists of the citizens' committee bring about the inevitable end of the authority. The game will be available in the shop of the DDR Museum in German and English from January 15, 2020. |
