CANSA is so thankful to the individuals who have chosen to raise funds for our care and support services online, as part of our Shavathon campaign this year. They’ve raised R90 260 towards the R100 000 target thus far and are still going strong!

Meet Some of our Fundraisers

Charlotte Jackson has raised R70 141 through her fundraising page thus far, and has done so to honour the memory of multiple loved ones lost to cancer in 2020: “In memory of Elizabeth, Phil, Juhan, Roy and Charlene whom I lost in 2020, all to cancer - I will be shaving my hair off in support of the CANSA Shavathon.”

Momentum Metropolitan has raised R10 034. “A disease like cancer can be a thief of hope, turning the world grey and gloomy. That’s why we’re so committed to bringing hope in collaboration with CANSA (celebrating its 90th anniversary). Lend your support digitally this year to creating awareness of cancer and the need to stand with cancer fighters, survivors, caregivers and loved ones.”

Alta Cloete has raised R7 185. “Ek wil bitter graag iets vir KANSA insamel - ter nagedagtenis van die wat gesterf het en ter viering van die wat oorwin het.”

At the heart of Shavathon is support for the cancer patient (Survivor) – the reason we shave, spray or donate hair is to celebrate individuals affected by cancer and show them they are not alone. It is also a time to reminisce about those we have lost to cancer and to pay our respects. And of course it is a time to raise funds to continue care and support programmes for Survivors and loved ones. CANSA is celebrating its 90th year of service to those affected by cancer.

The theme for CANSA’s 2021 Shavathon is ‘Colours Speak Louder than Words’ – we’re still caring for cancer patients and loved ones despite COVID-19 and we invite you to show you care too by helping to raise sufficient funds for us to continue to do so.
