Dear John,

I wanted to share some thoughts with you today regarding the upcoming election, especially as the two presidential candidates face-off in the final presidential debate this evening.

In this year’s presidential election, the choice isn’t really between Donald Trump and Joe Biden. It is a choice between two completely different views of America. That difference is philosophical, not simply personal.

You can read the rest of my thoughts on voting for a vision, and not a person, here on the National Catholic Register's website: https://www.ncregister.com/commentaries/voting-for-a-vision-not-a-person

It is a great privilege and a blessing to live in a country that was founded on freedom—especially religious freedom. But we have a deep responsibility, as well.

As Catholic Americans, we should become familiar with all of the important issues in light of the teachings of the Church. The process of voting requires serious discernment and a well-formed conscience.

So, as the presidential election nears, and in order to equip you to vote for a vision, EWTN has prepared two special voting guides, Catholic Voter's Guide and Guide to Moral Duties Concerning Voting. You may download both guides at www.ewtn.com/vote.

These online resources explain the moral principles that should guide Catholics in their voting, and help you determine which candidates better demonstrate their support for the Truths of the Catholic faith. The page also features a special election prayer and an overview of specific election issues.

During these challenging days, we need to pray for our nation, for our leaders, and for all who seek public office. Mother Angelica once said, “Pray before you vote – vote in the name of God. Pray that we will once again be a nation under God.” This is my prayer as well.

Sincerely in Christ,

Michael P. Warsaw

P.S. Keep in mind that, in addition to the presidential election, there are many other elections on November 3, including House of Representatives seats, Senate seats, governorships, and other local races. For all of these elections, we should form our opinions on sound moral theology. Visit www.ewtn.com/vote to learn more.
