![]() The emptiest place on earth: Man quarantines self in shut-down amusement parkWalt Disney World in Florida has done something unprecedented in 2020: It’s completely shut down in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. The park, which has stayed open amidst impending hurricanes and other natural threats, has seen no guests or foot traffic since March. Well, almost none. One local man decided he’d live out his quarantine in style by stealing a boat and rowing out to Discovery Island, which is owned by the Walt Disney Company. This island, which is closed to the public even during normal operations, looked by all accounts like a tropical paradise, which is why the man spent a leisurely week there soaking up the sun. Police eventually found and nabbed him for theft and trespassing after a long manhunt. Of all the ways to self-isolate, this one probably takes the cake. He didn’t even have to worry about mosquitoes on his private island. Color us jealous. Tap or click here to see why there are no mosquitoes at Walt Disney World. → |
