Since the passage of Utah’s “sensitive materials” law in 2022, school districts have seen dozens of requests for schools to review the books in their library collections. In December of 2022, a challenge was filed requesting the Bible be pulled from Davis County’s bookshelves.

Biden issues first veto, Romney calls it a ‘mistake’

President Joe Biden issued his first veto Monday that would protect a rule allowing retirement plan managers to take environmental, social and governance (known as “ESG”) issues into account in regard to investment decisions.

• What Sen. Mitt Romney said via Twitter: “This is a mistake. Democrats can’t get their radical policies through Congress, so they hope asset managers will do the work for them. It is completely inappropriate to use the retirement funds of hard-working Americans to advance Washington Democrats’ ideological preferences.”
• President Biden said through a White House statement: “(T)he Republican-led resolution ... would prevent retirement plan fiduciaries from taking into account factors, such as the physical risks of climate change and poor corporate governance, that could affect investment returns.”
