The Ottawa Tool Library is busy spreading the word on repairing, reusing, and sharing resources at the following events around town: Repair Café at City Hall, April Tools Day at Ottawa Fastener Supply, and the Eco Market at Re4m. More info below. 
Repair Cafés: April 20th and May 11th
 
Repair Cafés aim to reduce landfill waste by fixing items, teaching new skills, and building community! Our fixers and menders will be sharing their knowledge and skills around fixing everything from torn clothing to bike repairs to the wiring in your favourite lamp.

Bike Maintenance with OTL + OOGL
Bring your bike, put it on one of our bike stands, and learn how to assess its road safety. We will go over basic tune-up tasks and clean off the cobwebs. We have two bike maintenance workshops on May 9th and 23rd. Our May 23rd workshop is in collaboration with the Ottawa Outdoor Gear Library (OOGL).
Learn How to Use Basic Bike Tools with Sylvie D'Aoust 
During this hands-on Bicycle Maintenance Clinic, you’ll gain practical experience in various essential tasks to handle basic mechanical issues while out riding. Happening May 14th

Workspace Safety 101 & 201 Workshops

Introduction to different power tools, including the band saw, mitre saw, drill, table saw, planer, and more! Taking an OTL Safety course is a requirement for anyone who wants to use certain tools in our WorkSpace. You don't have to take Safety 101 to take the 201 course, the main differences between courses is the tools you learn.

Demo Night:
Introduction to 3D Printing


This demo night will give an introduction to how 3D printing works and give participants the basic skills needed to borrow the 3D printer from the library. Covering machine maintenance, setup, filament, modelling software, applications, and more!

Make Your Own Eco-Planter Box with Heather from Re4m

Join Heather from Re4m Design and Fabrication in a DIY workshop! She will guide you through the process of building your own eco-planter box. You'll leave with a beautiful, functional planter box, made from eco-friendly sourced materials.

Leather Tote Bag Workshop

Join us for two evenings of leatherwork and make a beautiful leather tote bag! In this two-part beginner workshop, you'll learn marking, cutting, pricking, and saddle stitching to create a finished product. 
Wednesday, May 29th AND June 5th from 6-9pm
Make a Floating Side Table 

When you’re done with this project, it will still amaze you. This functional floating end-table will be a unique centerpiece in whatever room you choose to display it in.

Ottawa's First Ever Tiny Home Show!
 
We're excited to be a part of Ottawa's first Tiny Home Show, happening May 10-12th.
Make sure to say hi to us and listen to Bettina's presentation on May 11th at 12pm! She will be showcasing OTL and why sharing resources is important all while creating community.

At the show, you'll get to tour tiny homes, see how others have planned their tiny homes, and ask questions to learn from others' experiences!
