Hi, Do

Are you in full spring mode yet? Lucky you! I know some of you are also experiencing late winters too. Well, ready or not summer and the harvest are coming. Here are some canning projects for early to start the year out right.

Here in Colorado we are not in full planting mode yet, but spring is here and the very earliest crops (like peas) are ready to go in the ground pretty soon. I may be out planting some greens in my garden soon and kicking my hens out and back into the chicken area.

I so love, love, love spring. (of course I say the same thing about fall)

For those of you who are ahead of us in the season, lucky you. Is anyone into strawberry season yet? Here are a few Strawberry ideas for you. A couple strawberry Jam recipes, dehydrating and freezing for easy smoothie ingredients.

And I'm willing to bet that many many of you are dealing with dandelions in your yard about now, or will be soon. As you may know dandelion greens are a great addition to your salads. But did you know you can make jelly out of the blossoms? Yes you can!

For those like me who are getting the garden in shape, have you tried drip irrigation? We live where the ground is hard clay and water is scarce. Drip lines are a great way to go. Here is how I set up my drip lines in my garden. Every garden is different so take a look and see if this might work for you.

And finally I want to thank a sponsor of Simply Canning. Fillmore container has been working with me for a while now. They have a variety of items including canning supplies. They also have canning jars and lids.... in bulk!

The latest item I got from them is not a canning item but if you make kombucha or other fermented drinks, you should check out their ez-cap bottles. I did a fb live about the bottles just the other day.

You can watch me talk about them on facebook live here... FB live ez-cap bottles

Or check them out here... EZ-Cap bottles at Fillmore Container
