Spring spirit and the madness of March hares Spring has sprung here on Brighton beach, and the seafront is becoming more vibrant with every lengthening day. We are definitely feeling it here in the gallery. This Spring Spirit lasercut by Pippa Dyrlaga is bringing us much joy, as is an unlikely lineup of March hares... Leading the pack is this papier-mâché hare by the brilliant Emily Warren aka The Stealthy Rabbit, and Hester the Hare features in Sarah Young's cast of Cut & Sew tea towel characters. In Cally Conway's print, the Running Hare bounds through ears of wheat in an image celebrating Folk Art and the flora and fauna of the British Isles. All heralds of Summer days to come... |

Always popular, these creative weekends invite you to take your work to the next level, making huge drawings inspired by the sea on our gallery doorstep. In this first chapter, let Katie Sollohub lead you over two days of making Large Scale Drawing with Coloured Inks. Gather inspiration from the shoreline and then work on your own huge drawing board back in the studio. If you can't make this one, there are plenty more courses with Katie coming up through the year. Pinch, punch, it's RISO next month Some of you will remember our 2024 Riso Show where we took a deep dive into the community of artists working with these all-but-defunct cult copier machines. We were amazed at the rich variety of work being produced! We enjoyed it so much that we are bringing it back in April. Come and discover this vibrant and surprisingly affordable art form, here at Atelier from the first weekend in April. Above: Fern Meadow, below: Vicki Johnson aka Printer Johnson in the gallery soon. |
