Sprouted Seeds from Your Kitchen Cabinet [Thrifty Tips]

Thrifty Tips (February 12, 2019)If you are tired of canned and frozen food this winter, try making sprouts in your own kitchen. It's a great addition to salads, sandwiches, and wraps and can give you vital nutrients while you wait for spring and the growing season.
We also have some delicious recipes and creative ideas for celebrating Valentine's Day. Easter is not until April, so we are thinking about St. Patrick's Day and spring. I always sprout seeds, especially in the winter. I add them to sandwiches, salads, soups, or even eat as snacks! I normally just use a mason jar with a piece or cheese cloth or a little screen material under the jar ring/cap to allow me to rinse and drain daily until they sprout.

Almond Sauce Salmon with Citrus Veggies

The main star of my salmon dish is the almond sauce, which is really an homage to Thai and Indonesian inspired peanut sauces. I made this for my dear friend who is allergic to peanuts and it absolutely won him over. The almond sauce is so creamy and complex that the citrus veggies really cut through. This is a lovely pairing!
