Give these projects a try on a sunny day: Sun Prints In this project, your child creates beautiful designs using the sun’s power to fade construction paper into their own creation. This activity shows how UV rays can trigger chemical reactions in the materials they hit, causing their colors and chemical composition to change over time. Sidewalk Shadows In this project, you and your child use sidewalk chalk to trace shadows of your bodies and other objects. You both learn how light travels and how opacity forces light to move around objects, creating shadows. It’s a great opportunity to discuss how Earth’s rotation and revolution impact sunlight and shadows, too! Don’t forget to snap photos of your sun prints and shadow art and share them with us on Instagram @homesciencetools – we’d love to see your creative experiments!
