Public money, private schools: The Louisiana Legislature recently allowed parents who send their children to private schools to access tax dollars to do so, and they can begin applying for the grants in March. Trouble is, lawmakers haven't signed off on the contract the state negotiated to handle the transactions, leaving families, at least at this point, in the lurch. Patrick Wall explains.
Uptown real estate: The building home to Fat Harry's and Superior Seafood on St. Charles Avenue has been sold. What does that mean for the future of the popular Uptown watering hole and the adjacent restaurant? Stephanie Riegel has the story.
Problem solved: Meet Ne'Kiya Jackson and Calcea Johnson, the former St. Mary's Academy students who spent their senior-year holiday break proving that you can, in fact, solve the Pythagorean theorem using trigonometry. They just had their findings confirmed and published this week — and then threw in nine new ways to solve the problem for good measure. Hannah Levitan has the details.
