WEB-FIRST REVIEWS OF BOOKS AND MEDIA
The Atlas of Reds and Blues Devi S. Laskar's The Atlas of Reds and Blues is one of two starred fiction titles this week. "Pushcart Prize nominee Laskar here draws on unsettling personal experience to craft a kaleidoscope-like story of bias in America.... An important story, inventively structured." Shannon Sedgwick Davis's To Stop a Warlord: My Story of Justice, Grace, and the Fight for Peace is this week's starred nonfiction title. "Davis’s bold approach to nonprofit management is attention worthy and undoubtedly controversial. While this book should have broad appeal, it is highly recommended for Christian book clubs and readers who enjoy women’s biographies." Guantánamo Kid: The True Story of Mohammed El-Gharani, by Jérôme Tubiana, with illustrations by Alexandre Franc, is one of three starred graphic novels. "A thoughtful nonfiction addition to any adult collection and, considering there are still 40 detainees at Guantánamo in 2019, as relevant as ever." And in e-originals, Mia Sosa's "multicultural and multidimensional characters rely on family and friends to help navigate through both life and love" in Crashing into Her, the third title in the "Love on Cue" series.
