KQED's Silicon Valley Bureau Chief, Tonya Mosley, will host a special evening of conversation and performance looking at how technology is influencing the future of music composition, production, and performance. From classical to jazz to EDM, music has always been marked by innovation and experimentation. But in recent years, we've seen the advent of new technologies that are changing the way musicians can express themselves and software that uses artificial intelligence to produce and compose music.

The evening will show us what a musician can do with their voice and a single instrument, and we will also see what is possible with computers, AI, and other new technologies. Guests include Doug Eck, a research scientist for Google's latest project, Magenta, Amy X Neuburg, a classically trained composer who uses computer-based looping techniques in her music, and Ge Wang, Professor of Music and Computer Science at Stanford University.
