Legal outfit HPX Group has inked an agreement to acquire Salinger Privacy, a privacy consulting and training business founded by former Deputy Privacy Commissioner for NSW Anna Johnston which has been operating for 20 years.

HPX Group will merge Salinger with its information security legal and consultancy unit Helios, beefing up its privacy services arm. The group also includes corporate law firm Hamilton Locke and outsourced legal counsel entity Source.

Nick Humphrey-run HPX (formerly Halo Group Holdings) was launched in 2018 and has folded several brands under its wing including company secretarial service Emerson CoSec, infrastructure specialists Morrissey and New Zealand commercial law firm Anderson Creagh Lai.

The for sale sign has gone up at 44-year-old Banlaw, a Newcastle-headquartered business that pitches itself as the only original equipment manufacturer in the world to offer end-to-end fluid management solutions to the likes of Glencore, BHP and Fortescue.

The Australian sharemarket dipped on Tuesday, as a sell-off in the major banks and supermarket giants largely offset a rally in the iron ore price.
