| | | COUNTING COPS Led by reporter Cassidy Jensen, the Monitor spent more than a year creating a town-by-town database of police growth in New Hampshire. While statewide totals of sworn police officers are kept by the Police Standards and Training Council, no agency kept the data on a town-by-town basis making it impossible for the public to know where growth was greatest or to compare growth in specific communities over time. Monitor findings include that the number of New Hampshire police officers has grown twice as fast as the population over the last twenty years. The series includes five days of stories, a town-by-town chart of police department staffing and infographics on demographic and population data. |
