Anti-LGBTQ bills pass: State lawmakers on Monday passed bills outlawing gender-affirming medical care for transgender youth and talk of gender and sexuality in school classrooms. The session solidified the Legislature's rightward shift on the issue of LGBTQ+ rights that aligns with the national conservative movement, writes James Finn.
Effort to make recalls easier fails: Rep. Paul Hollis set out at the beginning of the legislative session to make it easier to recall elected officials. But his effort to lower the threshold of votes needed for recalls has ended in accusations of back-stabbing, as well as threats against Hollis that he calls “disturbing.” Sam Karlin has the details.
