It's time for some high-level updates since our last shareholder letter, which was sent on June 19, 2023. We keep this update succinct, with lots of links sprinkled throughout, as we’ve actually written a lot of mini-updates throughout the year.

1. HackerNoon 3.0 counts with the migration of our backend database to MongoDB, frontend tech to a combination of Vercel/Svelkit, and email host to Elastic, making HackerNoon lighter, simpler, and more efficient🔥

2. HackerNoon Mobile App was launched and went through 9 iterations since Sep. 2023. With the latestversion, users can read, write, listen, and submit stories 🪄

3. Niche Tech Publication Network powered by HackerNoon CMS (beta): In just a few clicks, a HackerNoon account can turn into a standalone site, like LearnRepo.com, HackerNoon.tech, EditingProtocol.com & more ☯️

4. Landing Pages now powered by HackerNoon CMS, such as HackerNoon Mobile App, Web 2.5, Why Publish Pages, About Page & Testimonial Pages

5. CMS Integration, such asHackerNoon namespaces minted on the blockchain; Originality.ai and other tools for AI Writing Detection; Signup/Signinwith Google; Importing of text transcripts from Youtube and of full blog posts from RSS and other blogging platforms; Added GIPHY to story editing and commenting 🙌

6. New Search page, Search Bar and renewed partnership with Algolia 🔍

7. The Pixel Icon Library and HackerNoon fonts are now open-sourced and available on GitHub, Figma, and as an NPMjs package🔔

8. Helping Technologists market themselves via Call-to-Actions, updating socialmedia profiles, short and long-form bios, flaunting their work and job history and rank topwriters by technology categories 🚀

Both revenue and expenses are down in 2023 YoY - a slight dip compared to 2022. Our net income remains level; however, we have some catching up to do in 2024.

On the editorial front, we keep onboarding more writers (29k new writers, compared to 22k in 2022) and publishing more stories (18,659 stories, compared to 13k in 2022)✍️
