State sees population numbers slide

Louisiana saw its population shrink by more than 14,000 last year, and only a dozen largely suburban parishes have seen any growth since the 2020 Census, according to a new U.S. Census Bureau estimate.

Overall, the average parish lost about 2.4% of its population since 2020.


A special panel of three judges appointed by the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals will decide the issue of whether Louisiana's latest congressional election maps will remain. A trial is set for April 8 to 9 in Shreveport.

Perhaps no one has a bigger interest in the case than current U.S. Rep. Garret Graves.
