Situational Analysis | Dec. 18, 2023

It's Monday and it's Answer the Phone Like Buddy the Elf Day!

What You Need to Know

  • State Sen. Mike Kennedy announced that he has formed an exploratory committee to look at running for the 3rd Congressional District if current Rep. John Curtis runs for the U.S. Senate. Others considering a Congressional run include State Auditor John Dougall, Roosevelt Mayor Rod Bird, Jr., and Chris Herrod. As for Curtis, recently polling puts him handily in first place among the current candidates.

  • A disturbing and dangerous trend: wrong-way driving. One person is dead and two people are injured — including Utah Highway Patrol trooper Carlos Rios-Redd— after a wrong-way collision on Interstate 15 in Orem early Sunday morning. It was the fifth wrong-way driver reported in the last two weeks.
