Justice Department opens State Police probe
By KELLY P. KISSEL | Metro editor The U.S. Department of Justice says it is looking into potential patterns of excessive force and racial discrimination by those at the Louisiana State Police. It held a news conference today with the U.S. Attorneys from all three districts in the state. Details on the civil rights investigation can be found here. Some parts of the city stink, and now the Metro Council wants to do something about it. Members are looking into whether East Baton Rouge needs an "odor ordinance" to go along with its noise ordinance. The U.S. Coast Guard is searching for a man missing in the Mississippi River.
