States in the West face another round of water cuts as severe drought hammers the Colorado River and Lake Mead

Arizona and Nevada will be hit with another round of cuts to their water supplies, the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation said Tuesday. Drought continues to threaten water levels in the Colorado River and, by extension, stress communities across the West, the bureau said.

The announcement comes as the region has already taken a series of unprecedented steps to ration water, including from Lake Mead, the nation’s largest reservoir, which hit historic lows in June.
