As the US residential real estate market remains tight and expensive, more Americans are turning to prefabricated homes, with shipments rising for five consecutive months through August. High mortgage rates and property prices have pushed traditional homeownership out of reach for many, leading to increased manufactured home shipments and a growing interest in prefabricated options.

Fed appears to lack appetite for more rate hikes

Federal Reserve leader Jerome Powell's comments when the Fed voted not to raise interest rates last week indicated a likely end to increases until 2024, experts say. KPMG Chief Economist Diane Swonk explained that "Powell would have pointed much more to the risk that consumer spending would undo the progress we've seen on inflation" if further hikes were on the table.
