Welcome to the weekend. It’s the first weekend of Gov. Tim Walz’s order to stay at home to “bend the curve” of coronavirus infection in Minnesota. Stay home and stay healthy.

A good day to stay inside, indeed. Wind, rain, snow. Yup, you read that right. Windy and rainy this afternoon and early evening in the Twin Cities. High will be around 48. Rain will mix with snow for a while overnight with 2 to 3 inches possible north and west metro by Sunday morning and lighter snow amounts in the southeast metro area. More on Updraft. | Forecast

Stay-at-home order takes effect as cases increase. Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz’s stay-at-home order, intended to slow the spread of COVID-19 across the state, went into effect overnight and will remain in place until April 10. Visit this story for what you need to know. Thinking about heading to the cabin? Think again, please.

Headed to the grocery story to stock up? Groceries and pharmacies remain open during the stay-at-home order. Please note, however, that you are likely to be asked to bag your own groceries if you are using your own reusable bags. Is it safe to use them? We’ve got the answers.

There are slivers of sunshine amid the headlines. We see them everywhere and are sharing them with you in our feature called daily dose of sweetness. It’s a daily reminder that social distancing and staying at home doesn’t have to mean isolation.

Read, hike or visit the zoo from home this weekend. If you are looking for something to read during the next two weeks, with your help MPR News with Kerri Miller offered up a list of books  to chose from. And out of our video archive, here’s a virtual hike on the Winchell Trail and virtual visit to the Como Zoo to  hang out with Penelope when she was just a baby.

And we are leaving you with this ...

‘Love sweet love.' From our friends over at Classical MPR: “If there's a sliver of a silver lining in these uncertain times, it's music, from free, virtual concerts to suggested playlists . One of the most inspiring efforts we've seen this week comes from a virtual performance of Burt Bacharach/Hal David's 'What The World Needs Now' by students from Berklee College of Music.”

Stay safe and keep healthy, from all of us at MPR News via our home offices and home studios.
