Celebrity Series of Boston

Featured performances to enjoy from home

Dear John,

At the Celebrity Series, our goal is to inspire, delight, and bring joy to all of our audiences, whether it's in a concert hall, in an elementary school, or in public spaces.

You are part of our community, and we are here with performances that can still excite us even if we can’t share the experience in person.

Every week, we will provide opportunities to stay engaged with Celebrity Series artists so we can all remain connected to the joy of live performances.

Watch, listen, and enjoy this week's selections, curated with you--our audiences and friends--in mind!

Live from Home with Chris Thile & Aoife O'Donovan

Chris Thile and Aoife O'Donovan

Many of you are probably familiar with Chris Thile's variety radio show, Live From Here. Chris recently started the digital series, Live from Home (link takes you to Chris' Instagram), that is self-described as "a digital space for us to keep making and experiencing art when we can't be physically together."

Aoife O'Donovan, who was scheduled to perform with us on March 12th also participated in Chris Thile's Live from Home. Check out her Instagram performance here.

Don't forget to listen to last night's Live from Here's rebroadcast.

Stave Sessions: Kinan Azmeh's City Band

Kinan Azmeh

Last week would have been our sixth annual Stave Sessions, a week of experimental and path-breaking music. Kinan Azmeh was scheduled to kick things off with his CityBand on Tuesday, March 17th. A perfect example of a Stave artist, Kinan Azmeh's CityBand blends classical music, jazz, and the music of his homeland, Syria.

Watch the CityBand perform "Wedding" below.

Thank you

Our community is the backbone of the Celebrity Series, and we cannot thank you enough for your generosity in helping us weather the storm. In the space of just one week, we have received ticket donations from more than 425 households. We are truly heartened by your support.

Performances by the artists featured above were sponsored by Susan & Michael Thonis and the Barr Foundation through its ArtsAmplified initiative, with additional support provided by Debra & Michael Raizman, Yukiko Ueno & Eran Egozy, Randolph Hawthorne & Carliss Baldwin, Marylen Sternweiler, and Celebrity Series LIVE PERFORMANCE! Arts for All Innovation Funds.

We invite you to check out our online auction, another option for you to support the continuity of the arts in your community. With no risk bidding (Celebrity Series will not collect bids until the final bid and item availability have been confirmed), the online auction offers feel-good items like monthly flower delivery, cultural experiences later in 2020, and unique collectors’ items.

We know that we will come through to the other side, but in the meantime, we miss seeing you at the performances! Stay connected to Celebrity Series and let us know what you’re listening to and watching while you’re at home!

THANK YOU TO OUR SUPPORTERS

Celebrity Series of Boston is grateful to our 2019-20 season sponsors Amy & Joshua Boger, and to the many individuals, corporations, foundations, and government agencies whose support helps fulfill our mission to present performing artists who inspire and enrich our community and our vision of a community of Greater Boston where the performing arts are a valued, lifelong, shared experience - on stages, on streets, in neighborhoods - everywhere.
