Hi Achternaam,

I love enjoying the little things in the spring and summer.

Last week I was taking a break sitting on my front porch watching some baby robins leave the nest. Perfect timing! Gosh, they looked vulnerable. Can you see the little guys still in the nest? I told him to stay there a little longer.

Okay, enough about baby birds. ;) Let's talk about canning:

Canning Potatoes - New Canning Chat added! Trudy, who lives in Washington, asks, "I want to know if you can can the little round potatoes that come in several colors." Here's what I told her.

Fruit Leather Recipe - Page recently updated. There are endless combinations for making fruit leather. Use your favorite fruit all by itself, like I did with the cherries here. Applesauce mixed with almost any berry is a great combination too. Combine tart fruits or berries like currants with something sweet to contrast with the tartness. Strawberries all by themselves work really well!

Canning Beets - It might be beet season where you live already. Beets are a vegetable that you either love or hate. Personally, I love em. Sooooo very very much better than store-bought.

Apricot Jam Recipe - Homemade apricot jam is just SO good. This particular recipe yields about 5 pints. If you want to make more at a time, make two single batches in two pots (since jam recipes don't double easily).
