Good morning Valued Subscriber,
It's been a tough time for the Australian National University. Staff and students say they'll be under financial stress when parking rates increase by a "humongous" 177 per cent next year. It comes at the same time jobs have been axed and staff were asked to give up their pay rise.

Sarah Lansdown reports the union's fury, as Education Minister Jason Clare defends the caps on international students as being "fair".
And in the election count latest, the Greens might be in with a chance of picking up the fifth seat in Brindabella with incumbent MLA Laura Nuttall picking up pace as preference flows are counted. Lucy Bladen reports the Green, who replaced the disgraced Johnathan Davis late last year, could edge out Labor's Mick Gentleman.
Dog owners in Canberra have been urged to make sure their pets are vaccinated after an outbreak of the highly contagious canine parvovirus in Queanbeyan. Steve Evans reports the outbreak of the disease led to 21 dogs being put down. In food news, Amy Martin spoke with the brains behind the hot new restaurant Carlotta and Jasper Lindell checked out Japanese restaurant Ikko.
Today should be partly cloudy with a slight chance of a shower in the afternoon and early evening. The top temperature will be about 25 degrees.
