Why give to Art in Action?

Art in Action board member and former school principal Lisa Zachry loves the days she gets to return to teach art in the classroom.  She enjoys the excitement it brings, saying she "opens the door and the kids see [her] and they say YES because they know it is going to be an Art in Action day, and that's just wonderful."

After almost two years of the COVID-19 pandemic, many students are struggling not only academically, but emotionally. Art serves as a vehicle for creative expression, and educators nationwide are turning to the arts to help students cope with ever-changing school learning environments and challenges.

Lisa emphasized the importance of art in supporting whole child learning saying, "in art, students have an opportunity to express themselves in a positive way, and they can learn to challenge themselves and take risks without worrying about getting the right answer."

It is essential we continue to provide arts education to the students who need it most. We need your help to provide students with a creative outlet to express themselves and grow their social-emotional skills.
