MEMORIAL DAY
May 28, 2018
email formatted funny? Web version
Dear Valued Reader,

Our office is closed for the holiday, but if you've some time to reflect... we've got some stories for you to consider.  What sticks in my mind as I see our Memorial Day parade preparations underway, and the flags waving and walking down the street, is the cynical patriotism that's used to sell investment newsletters -- the "you're a patriot, so you should deserve free checks" pitch that is used so often to lure those of us who are desperately searching for a little extra income... if you've been tempted by the newsletter ads that include waving flags and appeals to your patriotism, hold on tight to your wallet and check out a few of our examples... we've covered lots of stories over the past few months that touch on this, ads promising "U.S. Freedom Checks," "Liberty Vouchers," "Liberty Checks"and"Trump Bonus Checks" ... and, of course, when you sift through the hype none of these are really "you get free money because you love your country" stories.  So be careful out there.

And, as usual, if you missed any of our stories or Thinkolator answers last week... just read on!

Million-dollar bets, pot stocks, Chinese MSCI buys, and smart metal... miss anything last week?

The most widely-requested teaser solution of the week came late this time, on Thursday, when Michael Robinson started talking up the idea of a "shape shifting metal" that would make silicon obsolete (and somehow generate 4,000% gains) ... what was that story all about?  Click here for my take.

But that wasn't all ... the week started with my look at the Motley Fool's "Million-dollar bet" -- a stock they say they've recommended several times and is still a hot buy for new money now... what is it?  Thinkolator results here.

Then it was the "two stocks every Wall Street firm will be forced to buy on May 31" pitched by Steve Sjuggerud -- that's all about the inclusion of more Chinese stocks in the MSCI indexes,my story is here.

Then it was time for another look at Ray Blanco's "Secret $50 Pot Stock Blueprint" strategy, pitching a few of his favorite marijuana investments... that story is here.

And the wild and wooly week came to a close, with some updates and thoughts and a couple portfolio changes to note for the Irregulars this week in your Friday File -- including a new speculation, an add-on buy, and some thoughts about a couple of my dividend growth stocks.  Our dearest friends can find that here.
