Good afternoon.
We may well be in for a wet weekend as the Met office has issued a yellow weather warning for large parts of Northern Ireland. So far in August Northern Ireland has had 90mm (3.5in) of rain – 90% of its 97mm (3.8in) average for the month.
In Coronavirus news medical professionals are urging people who have not yet been vaccinated against Covid-19 to come forward to talk about doubts. The appeal comes ahead of the Big Jab Weekend initiative to bump up vaccination numbers before the larger centres such as the SSE Arena in Belfast close.
Peter Robinson writes: We in Northern Ireland should understand the betrayal of the Afghan people, and welcome them here. I watched in dismay as one after another Afghan city was seized by the Taliban until inevitably they took over the capital, Kabul.
The family of IRA victim Paul Quinn say they remain hopeful of some kind of breakthrough in the case, after cross-border activity by detectives this week. Both the PSNI and An Garda Siochana said they had been making enquiries on Tuesday and Wednesday in the border area near where he was killed in 2007.
We hope you are able to enjoy a good weekend
