Dear friend and supporter, Recent reports shed light on the critical conditions faced by evacuees from the north and south, revealing a troubling picture of their lives seven months into the conflict. With approximately 100,000 individuals displaced, many have lost their homes permanently, while others live under the constant threat of missiles, causing widespread stress and anxiety. The evacuees, currently dispersed across more than 400 hotels with no clear timeline for returning home, are confronting not just physical displacement but a cascade of worsening health and social issues. There reports indicate a rise in mental distress among teenagers, turning to alcohol as a coping mechanism. The impact on family stability is profound, with increases in domestic violence and the disintegration of family units. Additionally, Holocaust survivors among them are experiencing retriggered trauma from the events of October 7. At Feed Israel, we are committed to offering comprehensive support to evacuees, addressing both their immediate and long-term needs. Our efforts include distributing essential supplies, facilitating access to medical care, and providing mental health support. |
