If you've been a reader of Johnny Jet, there's a good chance you've seen us mention the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card. It's often considered one of the best travel credit cards thanks to the flexible redemption options and ease of use.
But is there a better card than The Chase Sapphire Preferred?
Depending on your travel goals and spending, the answer is yes. The Preferred is excellent, but sometimes you want something simple. In that case, the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card may be the better option as it earns 2x miles on everything. Well, almost everything. Cardholders earn 5x miles on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel and 5x miles when booking car rentals through Turo.com.
The Sapphire Preferred and Venture Rewards are excellent options. But they both come with a $95 annual fee. Fortunately, two $0 annual fee options come with many perks.
Like the Preferred, the Bilt World Elite Mastercard®, one of the best credit cards for paying rent, is also a metal card that comes with a 25% travel redemption bonus, has 1:1 point transfers with leading travel brands, and doesn't charge a foreign transaction fee when abroad. However, this card differs because points can be redeemed towards next month's rent payment or even a down payment on a home!
Alternatively, if you don't have the best credit, the X1 Card goes off your income, not your credit score. Cardholders earn at least 2x points on purchases, with the possibility of earning 10x points per $1 spent. Redeem points for travel, retail shopping credits, or cash statement credits without a redemption minimum. |
