Attendees defend controversial 'Day of Hope' event

Last month, a "Day of Hope" field trip in the East Baton Rouge school district drew criticism from some students and parents who said the event felt more like a religious service than a college and career day. 

But Superintendent Sito Narcisse is defending the event, saying Thursday that district administrators investigated and couldn't corroborate the accusations critics have made. And, at a school board meeting later that night to discuss the event, many people who participated came forward to defend it.

Here's the latest on the controversy. 


The "Tiger Walk" is one of the great LSU football gameday traditions. Cheered by hordes of fans, the players walk together down Victory Hill and into Death Valley — and they do it while dressed to the nines.
