Pardon? The Capitol insurrection rioters think they should get pardons, but Sen. Lindsey Graham on Sunday said he thinks that would be wrong, and warned that doing so could "destroy" President Donald Trump.
A timely discussion, since the president is looking at over a hundred pardons on his last day in office.
However, just in this morning, that pile of pardons reportedly won't include himself or his family.
‘You Must Hate Trump’ That is apparently a quote of Trump referring to himself in the third person during a tirade dressing down former staunch ally Attorney General Bill Barr.
Axios’ Jonathan Swan reported that despite Barr’s public efforts to uphold his partnership with Trump, the former AG was growing increasingly “annoyed and frustrated” and frustrated with the president’s antics throughout the last half of the year.
Trump doesn't like that.
Consequences Freshman Republican Rep. Nancy Mace said on CNN Sunday night that she believes Sen. Josh Hawley and Sen. Ted Cruz should face consequences for stirring up the mob that attacked the Capitol on Jan. 6. “I think that any person of any party in any chamber should be held accountable,” she said. “They should be investigated to the fullest extent of the law.”
‘Big Lie’
CNN’s Jake Tapper ended State of the Union on Sunday by imploring Fox News personalities that helped spread President Donald Trump’s “big lie” that the election was stolen to correct the record immediately.
“Where people go to see the big lie?” Tapper set up. “MAGA media.” A montage of Fox News hosts like Sean Hannity, Jeanine Pirro, Laura Ingraham, and Pete Hegseth was then presented to viewers, followed by Tapper’s damning assessment. “MAGA media, where hosts not only didn’t push back on the big lie, they also participated in it,” he explained. “It was a joint effort by the Trump team and MAGA media, and millions, millions heard lies about election fraud day after day.”
A devastating segment.
Geniuses
The selfie-happy insurrectionists have been the best witnesses against themselves. The FBI says they have over 140,000 pieces of digital media from the investigation, largely from the perpetrators themselves. It led to the arrest of right-wing YouTube star 'Baked Alaska' over the weekend. And to a guy who literally drew an arrow pointing himself out.
Hawley Regnery Publishing announced Monday that it would publish Sen. Josh Hawley’s upcoming book, The Tyranny of Big Tech, after Simon & Schuster dropped it. “It’s discouraging to see them cower before the ‘woke mob,’ as Senator Hawley correctly calls it,” Regnery president and publisher Thomas Spence said in a statement obtained by Mediaite. “Regnery is proud to stand in the breach with him. And the warning in his book about censorship obviously couldn’t be more urgent.”
Civil War Karl Rove warned Sunday that the Republican party is “in the midst of a civil war” right now. On Fox News Sunday, Chris Wallace brought up a recent poll finding Trump only has an approval rating of 29 percent. Among Republicans in particular it found his approval rating is now at 60 percent. “How toxic is Donald Trump now in American politics?” Wallace asked. “Those numbers are not the way you want to leave the presidency,” Kristen Soltis Anderson said. She noted it’s a serious open question of how much Trump will be considered a Republican leader in the next few years. Meanwhile, she added, there are still plenty of people who like and support Trump. Wallace turned to Rove and asked where the GOP goes from here. Rove bluntly said the GOP is “broken" and explained that it's a civil war within the party.
Tucker Carlson, Ariel Pink and the Cancel Culture Grift OPINION “Musician unfairly canceled after Capitol Hill riot” read the chyron. After Thursday night’s episode, viewers of Tucker Carlson Tonight might have been left asking themselves — Who is Ariel Pink? Why was he so unfairly canceled by The Left?! That’s a fair question.
Most people do not know who he is or why fans of his music are upset. You’d have to assume also that Tucker Carlson didn't know who Ariel Pink was either, or even why people are upset at him, based on his segment. Read the rest from Casey Hopkins here. 6.5.0 |
