Register by March 24 to have your library project featured in an architect-led breakout session!

Join us on Friday, May 8 for this day-long collaborative event on building and design. You will have the opportunity to dig deep with other librarians, as well as architects and vendors who’ll provide insights and specifics on building and renovating/retrofitting large and small library spaces that engage and effectively serve communities. This event runs 9AM-5PM.

This full-day event features:

  • Expert panels with architects and librarians on issues and innovations in library space, design, and construction
  • Tips on how to get your community on board
  • Hands-on, architect-led breakout sessions dealing with real-life design challenges submitted in advance by you and your fellow attendees
  • Design consultations with individual architects who will help you address your own library-specific questions (be sure to bring photos, illustrations, floor plans, or plat maps–whatever you think will inform the discussion)
  • Plenty of networking opportunities throughout the day

John is the founder and executive director of EveryLibrary, the first nationwide PAC for libraries, which has provided pro bono support to 110 libraries with ballot measures since 2012.

Arrive early on Thursday, May 7th for an optional afternoon tour of area libraries, as well as the stunning NEW Hayward Public Library, which opened in fall 2019 and is 100 percent energy self-sufficient.

Statement from the LJ Events Teamregarding the Coronavirus (Covid-19)

While the Coronavirus outbreak is an evolving public health issue, based on current information, risk remains low in the locations where LJ  has scheduled events. We are monitoring the situation and following guidelines issued by the Centers for Disease Control. We are also in close communication with our host facilities and are closely following the guidance of the national health organizations.

All event attendees are asked to follow the World Health Organization’s prevention and care recommendations leading up to and during our events.

Hand sanitizer will be available in multiple locations during our events. We will continue to monitor the situation while on-site and will follow and communicate protocols and instructions provided by our host venue, city officials and the national health organizations should the situation change.
