World Oceans Day Dive and Update on RIMS Activities

We love World Oceans Day! Each year on June 8th, we join others across the world to recognize how vital oceans are and the importance of preserving them. 

In 1989, Anthony's Key Resort proudly established the Roatan Institute for Marine Sciences (RIMS). Since its inception, RIMS has been at the forefront of marine research and reef conservation in our region. Colleges, universities and high schools from all over visit our facility to study tropical marine ecosystems and bottlenose dolphins.

This World Oceans Day was particularly special for us. Students visiting the resort had the exhilarating experience of diving alongside Jen Keck, Marine Biologist and RIMS Education Coordinator. Together, they took a hands-on approach to marine conservation, planting delicate baby corals onto a neighboring reef.  Take a look at the video linked below!

This year, RIMS representatives also had the chance to take part in the first-ever National Ocean Fair in the Honduran capital city of Tegucigalpa. This allowed us to share our work in preserving Roatan's coral reefs and promote the importance of sustainable tourism on Roatan.
