September 2024
 OUR RECENT IMMUNOTHERAPY EVENT

We recently hosted a very special public event on Immunotherapy in partnership with the Irish Society of Immunotherapy, and we are excited to share the highlights with you. Held on August 31st, the event brought together global experts to discuss the future of immunotherapy in cancer treatment.

The event featured inspiring panel interviews and a dynamic Q&A session with members of the public, world-renowned scientists, physicians, and researchers.

One of the event's highlights was a talk from Dr. James P. Allison, Nobel Prize winner, whose pioneering work has transformed cancer immunotherapy.

In case you were unable to attend or would like to revisit the discussions the full event was recorded. You can watch back at your convenience by clicking on the video below.

Feel free to share it with anyone who might be interested - we hope you enjoy the insights from these leading experts and thank you, as always, for your continued support.

BLAZING A TRAIL FOR CANCER RESEARCH

As you may know, Breakthrough Cancer Research is 100% funded by the incredible generosity of people like you - we don’t receive any guaranteed government funding.

Every year, on January 1st, we start from zero, which can feel like a daunting climb. But this year, during August and September, many of you chose to join us on that climb - literally - as we organised two hiking events: the Hike to 40KM challenge throughout August and a hike of Carrauntoohil, Ireland’s highest mountain, on September 22nd.

Yet again, you did not disappoint!

Over 600 of you joined the Hike to 40KM Facebook group, and a further 60 braved a misty Carrauntoohil last Saturday.

To say your determination, drive, and commitment astound us would be an understatement! Thanks to your efforts, we’ve raised nearly €100,000 through these two events alone.

As the blisters fade and and the sore muscles heal, we hope you’ll remember the incredible difference you’ve made. Your contribution is invaluable to the research we fund, helping to bring hope to people with cancer. We are deeply grateful for your support, and the impact it will have on the lives of so many people in our communities.
