Happy Sunday, everyone.

Here we are, on the last Sunday in 2020. What a year it's been.

As December comes to a close, I'm seeing a common theme out there. Thank goodness it's over. Good riddance, 2020. Happy to file 2020 away as a bad memory.

Sure, it's been rocky for everyone in different ways. And we have every right to feel whatever it is that we feel about what we've been through. Angry, sad, disappointed – it's all valid.

This is the part where I'm supposed to tell you to reflect on the happy moments, the silver linings. That 2020 wasn't all bad, because at least a few good things happened.

But I'm not going to do that today.

Instead, I'm going to tell you to focus on the learnings that came from all of the uncertainties. Chances are, you learned that what you thought was essential to your daily life may not be so necessary. You may have learned that those meaningless interactions in the grocery line aren't so meaningless after all. You may have learned how to create your own happiness when you've been stripped of the activities that once occupied your leisure time. You may have learned that you're tougher and more resilient than you thought. And I think we all learned not to take the status quo for granted.

It's probably healthy to pull out the happy moments too, but your best opportunity this year is to reflect on the life lessons that came from the tough parts. That's the stuff to take with you into 2021 and beyond.

So, what has 2020 taught you, the hard way? Let me know in the comment section of Weekly Link Love.
