Happy Sunday, folks. I've been doing a couple different things for sleep lately. Bedtime routines, you might say. Want to hear? Vagus Nerve Oil (aromatherapy) The other night before bed, I was rubbing Carrie’s neck with this “vagus nerve oil” she uses. The oil smelled great, so instead of washing my hands I rubbed the extra off on my neck. And I gotta say, sleep that night was particularly restful. I've written about essential oils and aromatherapy in the past. I understand much of the power and serenity you gain by walking through the forest depends on your intake of the scents and organic compounds the trees release into the air. Essential oils capture these compounds. Forest bathing, drop by drop. Despite all that, I've never gotten "into" them. They smell great, but I prefer the real thing. Fussing around with the droppers and the misters and whatnot never appealed to me. I'll use the vagus nerve oil again, though. Here it is, by the way. Magnesium Oil Transdermal magnesium can happen via two primary routes: Epsom salt baths (magnesium sulfate) Magnesium oil (magnesium chloride) Magnesium oil is my favorite, although a good strong epsom bath is incredible. When you take magnesium chloride flakes and dissolve them in water, the liquid takes on a slick, "oily" texture. When you spray that liquid onto your body, you absorb the magnesium. I've written about it on the blog before. I'm back using it. I spray any muscle or part of the body that's sore and really needs the love, and I spray the back of my neck. Doing this almost always gives me vivid dreams and very restful sleep. Sleep Tea Chamomile tea steeped in either water with collagen peptides added or chicken foot bone broth. The broth sounds weird, I know, but this is just plain chicken feet boiled in water. Very neutral flavor and loaded with gelatin. Whether you go with the collagen or the broth you're getting plenty of glycine, which some sources say may improve sleep quality. Quite nice an hour before bed. What have you been doing before bed? What's your sleep routine? Let me know in the comment section of Weekly Link Love. |
