1. GRAMMYS PAY TRIBUTE TO KOBE BRYANT: The Grammys pivoted to pay tribute to former N.B.A. superstar Kobe Bryant, who died in a helicopter crash Sunday morning. Performers including Lizzo to Lil Nas X to host Alicia Keys honored Bryant, who played with the Los Angeles Lakers at the Staples Center, the same venue as the Grammys. Essence: "Keys said that the Academy 'wanted to do something' to honor Bryant, his daughter, and the others who perished in the crash. Then she began a soulful rendition of Boyz II Men’s 1991 hit song, 'It’s So Hard To Say Goodbye.' The Philadelphia R&B group, who grew up in the same city as Bryant, then joined Keys onstage."

2. HOW CORONAVIRUS IS HARMING TRAVEL AND TOURISM: As the coronavirus spreads beyond the outbreak site in Wuhan, China—five cases have been confirmed in the U.S.—its impact also is spreading to travel and hospitality companies. USA Today: "Companies that get lots of business directly from China, particularly in the travel industry, are being hurt most. Las Vegas Sands and Wynn Resorts get the majority of their revenue from casinos in Macao, on the southern coast of China. Each lost more than 8 percent this past week. Airlines have been hurt by worries that the outbreak will keep customers from flying not only to and from China but across the region. ... But the impact could be felt beyond China. Consider Hawaii. Chinese tourists are the highest-spending visitors to the state, shelling out $349 per person per day in 2018. If Chinese vacationers stay home, U.S. hoteliers are vulnerable even if they have no locations in Asia."

3. BAFTA AWARDS SUGGEST SUSTAINABLE DRESS CODE: Stars headed to the Bafta awards in London next week are being asked to re-wear old gowns, rent a new one, or make another choice to "dress sustainably." To help them, organizers are providing a sustainable fashion guide created by the London College of Fashion’s Centre for Sustainability. Harper's Bazaar: "The goal is that the EE British Academy Film Awards 2020 will be carbon neutral, working towards having a net positive impact on the environment. From travel and food, to branding and materials, Bafta is ensuring the awards are as sustainable as possible."
