President Donald Trump asked then-Secretary of State Rex Tillerson to help persuade the Justice Department to drop a criminal case against an Iranian-Turkish gold trader who was a client of Rudy Giuliani in 2017 [Bloomberg].


Impeachment

Support for impeaching and removing President Trump from office hit a record high in a new Fox News poll. Just over half of Americans support booting Trump from office [Fox News].

President Trump is reportedly calling Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell as many as 3 times per day to rage about Republican lawmakers who he sees as disloyal [The Week].

House Democrats are prepping a raft of new subpoenas for testimony and documents related to President Trump's dealings with Ukraine [New York Times].

Former Vice President Joe Biden publicly called for Trump's impeachment on Wednesday [New York Times].

Former Rep. Trey Gowdy has left Fox News to join the Trump legal team fighting impeachment [NBC News].

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said there was "no blackmail" in the phone call with President Trump that set off the current impeachment inquiry [ABC News].

Conservative media figure Matt Drudge is souring on President Trump as he faces impeachment [CNN].

The Trump campaign has spent $718,000 on Facebook ads about impeachment [Axios].

The impeachment drive by Democrats in Congress is helping the GOP recruit new candidates for 2020 [Politico].


Syria

Turkish forces are advancing on the ground toward Kurdish fighters in northern Syria [AP].

U.S. intelligence officials warn ISIS could regroup after the U.S. abandoned the Kurds in Syria. Those Kurdish forces are guarding approximately 12,000 ISIS fighters who were captured [NBC News].

President Trump downplayed the U.S. alliance with Syrian Kurds saying, "They didn't help us in the Second World War" [Washington Post].


Hmmm

A new book reveals another 43 allegations of alleged inappropriate behavior by President Trump, including 26 instances of unwanted sexual contact. One woman alleges Trump hid behind a tapestry at his Mar a Lago resort in the early 2000s to grope a woman [Esquire].


Trade war

President Trump's tariffs have cost U.S. corporations at least $34 billion [Axios].
